"Available"

My new favorite word is "available."

I don't remember where I heard it for the first time, and I don't know exactly why I like this word so much, but I just do. In fact, I used it for the first time a couple days ago.

I hopped off my tricycle for a second so I could run into my pretend store, and when I came back to my tricycle, I said out loud, "Hmmm, where's my car? Oh, here, this one is AVAILABLE." Mom looked at me kind of funny and asked me if I had just said "available." I told her that I had, and pointed at the pretend car and told her that "this car was AVAILABLE." She kind of laughed, and I don't think she really believed that I knew what "available" meant because then she asked me if her pop was AVAILABLE? I told her that it was, and she asked me why I thought that. Duh, Mom, "because it is available for me to drink!" I still don't think she believed that I knew what it meant, because she certainly didn't give me a drink.

So today I decided to convince her that I did know what "available" meant. We went upstairs to grab Zander from his crib after nap time, and when Mom pulled him out, I asked Zander if he wanted to go downstairs with me. Very stubbornly he yelled, "NO!!!!" So, I asked him, "How come Zander? Are you not AVAILABLE to come downstairs? Oh, okay." I think Mom believed me this time.
