"Wonder Pants"

Besides Dora and Diego, one of Charley's absolute favorite television shows is called Wonder Pets!, which is about a guinea pig named Linny, a duck named Ming Ming, and a turtle named Tuck whose motto is to use "teamwork" as a way to save other creatures of nature from losing life and/or limb. She knows the theme song, the names and types of the animal characters, and has even learned what the word "teamwork" means because of the show. However, the one thing that she just can't quite grasp is that the name of the show is Wonder Pets and not "Wonder Pants" as she calls it. And for some reason, she perceives a connection between the "Wonder Pants" and underwear, so hence the following conversation took place yesterday. To set the scene, Brian was reading Charley a book about learning how to use the potty . . .

Brian: (reading from the book) "When you can keep your diapers clean and dry most of the time, you will be ready to wear special big kid underpants instead of a diaper . . ."

Charley: (looks a little confused because we use the word "panties" instead of "underpants")

Brian: Well, boys wear underpants and girls wear panties . . .

Charley: (as a little light bulb goes off in her head) Oh, yeah, and the Wonder Pants take care of everyone else.

Brian: (laughing out loud but thinking to himself) Yeah, that makes complete sense.
